This Toyota Crossover SUV Outsold The Fortuner In India Last Month – Which One Is It?

Under its partnership with Suzuki, Toyota has been selling rebadged models of the former’s products in India. The strategy has paid off well for the Japanese automaker, with the new vehicles bringing in decent sales. A case in point is the Taisor, a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. In February 2025, its sales were higher than those of the Fortuner.

Last month, Toyota sold 3,604 units of the Taisor in India. In January 2025, this figure stood at 2,470 units, indicating a 46% month-on-month increase. On the other hand, Toyota sold 2,876 Fortuner SUVs in February 2025, down 9% from January, when it sold 3,149 units. The Taisor was Toyota’s fourth highest-selling vehicle last month after the Innova, Glanza, and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Besides a smart-looking exterior and feature-rich interior, another factor that works in Taisor’s favour is the availability of multiple engine options. For those looking to boost fuel economy, there is a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit that makes 88.50 hp and 113 Nm of peak torque. For those looking for more power, there is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit that churns out 98 hp and 147 Nm of peak torque.
