This Yamaha XSR900 Ice Special is an Extreme Inline Build

  • Built for the Deus Swank Rally On Ice in Andorra
  • Bespoke parts, off-road tyres and an Akrapovic exhaust

Yamaha has a highly unusual version of the XSR900 created with long-time partner Deus Ex Machina for the latest the Deus Swank Rally On Ice. Held in Andorra in mid-March, the event brings together custom and adventure motorcycles prepared for snow and ice. Imagine this XSR900 reworked way beyond its road-going sport credentials.

The rear section appears to follow a flat-track style approach, helped by a larger race number plate, while the tyres have been swapped for off-road-focused rubber to better suit the frozen surface. Yamaha has also said the bike uses a number of handcrafted parts. The bike takes inspiration from Yamaha’s YZ125 and YZ250 motocross machines from the 1990s. There’s influence in the white and pink colour scheme giving the motorcycle both nostalgic and the unexpected.

Yamaha Left Rear Three Quarter

Because it is close to the standard XSR900 in its core structure, it has an aluminium frame and the 890cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. Confirmed change is the Akrapovic exhaust system which adds a more premium and purposeful touch to the overall build, and a crackling soundtrack.

This is a one-off custom shows how flexible the XSR900 platform can be. While the standard XSR900 already blends retro design with modern performance, this special Ice build shows how it can be pushed into a far more playful and extreme direction. It does show that Yamaha sees the XSR900 as a machine with genuine custom depth.
