Viral Video – Tata Sierra SUV Falls Into A Construction Pit, Everyone Survives!

Tata Sierra Falls Into Construction Site In Thane, Video Goes Viral

In an incident that has gone viral across social media, a Tata Sierra SUV fell into a 20-foot deep construction pit after hitting several parked cars during a customer test drive in Thane, Maharashtra. Even after falling into the pit in an overturned position, the passengers inside the SUV are reported to have survived with only injuries. In a video that has gone viral, we can see the bright yellow SUV overturned into the excavation pit before being recovered by a construction crane.

As we just saw, the Sierra SUV has taken some major damage after falling into the 20-foot deep excavation site. Fortunately, the Sierra’s 6-airbags deployed just in time and saved the occupants from any major injury or loss of life. It is currently unclear why the driver lost control of the SUV but it can be assumed that all passengers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, which protected them from major injury and also triggered the airbags in time.

The Tata Sierra is a mid-sized SUV that has recently been launched in the Indian market. It offers 22 standard safety features such as 6-airbags, ESP with 20 features such as rollover mitigation and cornering stability, it also comes with all four disc brakes and the higher trims get advanced Level 2 ADAS safety systems such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. Currently, it is unclear if the variant that was involved in the incident had Level 2 ADAS safety systems built into it or not. If it had been, the ADAS system would have most likely brought the SUV to a complete halt when it started crashing into the three parked vehicles before ramming through the barricade and falling into the pit.

While the new Sierra is yet to get an official crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP, Tata Motors claims that the SUV is 5-star rating ready. While the passengers inside the test drive car are certainly lucky, some credit is also due to the Sierra SUV, which has demonstrated a robust build quality in this incident.
