Indian Railways is set to introduce 5 new Vande Bharat trains by the end of the current month. The 5 new trains will increase the total number of Vande Bharat trains currently in operation to 23.
The new routes that will be served by the 5 new Vande Bharat Express are as follows: Mumbai-Goa, Bengaluru-Dharwad, Patna-Ranchi, Bhopal-Indore and Bhopal Jabalpur.
The Vande Bharath connecting Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Madgaon in Goa was supposed to be inaugurated earlier this month, but the Odisha train tragedy cancelled the scheduled launch.
The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat is expected to cover the 586-kilometre-long journey in around seven hours. The Vande Bharat Express from Mumbai to Madgaon will be the fourth to emanate from India’s financial capital.
The second Vande Bharat expected to be flagged off this June will be the one connecting Bengaluru and the twin cities of Dharwad-Hubbali. This Vande Bharat Express will travel a total of 487 kilometres in around 7 hours, making it one of the slowest versions of the Vande Bharat in terms of average speed.
This will be the second Vande Bharat train to serve the state of Karnataka but will be the first rake associated with the South-Western Railways (SWR) division. The first Vande Bharat Express for the region was launched a few months back and connects Chennai to Bengaluru and Mysuru.
The third of the five new Vande Bharat Express trains expected to start is the one connecting Bihar’s capital Patna to the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi. This Vande Bharat completed its trial run earlier this week.
This Vande Bharat train is expected to feature an 8-car rake and could stop at 7 stations on its 405-kilometre-long journey.
The final two Vande Bharat trains will both start in Bhopal and are expected to be flagged off on June 27th. The first of these trains will connect Bhopal with Indore and will hit speeds of up to 130km/h on the 218km long route.
The second Vande Bharat to exit Bhopal on 27th June will be the one connecting the city with Japablpur in the eastern part of the state. This train will travel a total of around 300 kilometres on its route and like the other Vande Bharat’s starting from Bhopal’s Rani Kamlapti station is expected to hit a top speed of 130km/h on its route.
The 5 new Vande Bharat Express trains will bring the joys of India’s home-grown semi-high-speed trains to new parts of the nation later this month and are expected to attract riders in their droves hoping to catch a ride on its new rakes.
