on Tuesday announced a major pricing shift for its flagship electric sedan, the , introducing a uniform ex-showroom price of Rs 2.05 crore across the country. The revised pricing includes registration charges, GST, and compensation cess, with the aim of eliminating regional price disparities and boosting customer confidence in electric vehicle purchases. Under the new structure, BMW India will absorb the cost of registration, which typically varies by state, and will coordinate the process through its network of authorised dealerships.

“Registration taxes are different in every state and can change frequently, creating uncertainty for potential buyers,” said Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India. “To address this, we are offering a uniform price across all states. Even if the tax changes, it is covered.” BMW stated that customers will only be required to pay for insurance, Tax Collected at Source (TCS), and any other local cesses. The company emphasised that this initiative is part of its broader focus on customer centricity and simplifying the buying process.

“Our goal is to encourage the adoption of electric mobility with added benefits, and to make it easier for our customers regardless of where they are located,” Pawah added. The BMW i7 is the brand’s most premium electric offering in India, and the move is expected to provide greater transparency and convenience for high-end EV buyers.
