DM opens 1st commercial EV charging stn

Varanasi: Taking a major step towards ‘Green Mobility’ in Varanasi, the district’s first commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) was inaugurated by the District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Monday at Indian Oil’s retail outlet GD Filling Station located in Harsos. A tree plantation was also conducted on the occasion with a message of environmental conservation. Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that the expansion of such infrastructure in Varanasi is the need of the hour. He emphasised that such EV charging stations are needed throughout the district for public convenience and to reduce environmental pollution.This commercial charging station will prove extremely convenient for local residents and travellers. “We will focus on establishing more such stations in other areas of the district in the coming time,” he said.Indian Oil officials said that this charging station is equipped with modern technology, capable of charging vehicles in less time, which will save customers’ time.
