2026 BYD Seal Sedan Launched In The UK, Should India Expect It Soon?

2026 BYD Seal Upgrades And Features Explained

In March 2024, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD launched its Seal electric sedan in India after it was debuted at the Auto Expo held earlier the same year. Since then, the BYD Seal has remained largely unchanged and offers a unique proposition of a sport EV in the Rs 40 to Rs 45 lakh bracket. However, BYD has recently launched the 2026 Seal in the UK market and considering that the sedan is due for a mid-life update in India as well, here’s a quick look at what has changed in the 2026 BYD Seal.

2026 BYD Seal In Lavender Grey

For the 2026 model, BYD has made increments to the seal in the tech and storage departments, along with several new colour options. Similar to India, even the UK-spec BYD Seal had not been updated until now, since it first launched in 2023. While the original OCEAN design language of the Seal remains intact, BYD has updated the design of the 19-inch alloy wheels, the BYD logo at the rear has now been repositioned to take centre stage and inside the headrest design has been reworked for comfort.

Apart from its standard colour options, the 2026 BYD Seal now also gets a Ruby Red, Obsidian Black and Lavender Grey colour option in the UK Market. Other increments have been made in the storage department, the Seal now offers 485 litres of boot space, which is more than the earlier version’s 400 litres and it also gets frunk or front storage space of 72 litre capacity, up by 19 litres from before.

In terms of features, the Seal has been a well-appointed EV from the start. For 2026, BYD has upgraded the ADAS functions to have a Driver Monitoring System, it now also gets a Bluetooth Key feature and other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and the signature 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.

What remains the same are the BYD Seal’s impressive technical specifications. It gets both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. While the 82.5 kWh battery pack remains standard, the rear-wheel drive version produces 308 hp and 360 Nm of torque and the all-wheel drive version produces 532 hp and 670 Nm of torque. The RWD has a claimed range of 569 km and the AWD Seal has a claimed range of 519 km on a full charge.

Considering that BYD offers similar variants and specifications in India as well, we expect the brand to update the Seal sedan in the domestic market as well by the end of 2026. For Indian customers, BYD would most likely also offer an entry-level version with a smaller 61.44 kWh battery returning 510 km claimed range and power figures of 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque. The BYD Seal is currently priced between Rs 41 lakh and Rs 53.15 lakh ex-showroom in India.
