Mercedes-Benz VLE Debuts As Long-Range Electric MPV – Details Inside

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the Mercedes-Benz VLE, which is a brand-new electric multi-purpose vehicle designed to combine comfort, space and long driving range.

Built on Mercedes’ new VN.EA platform, the VLE is positioned below the upcoming Mercedes-Benz VLS in the company’s lineup. While the company has not yet confirmed whether the VLE will arrive in India, the unveiling signals Mercedes-Benz’s growing focus on electric luxury vehicles.

Design

From the outside, the VLE carries a sleek and aerodynamic design, reflecting Mercedes-Benz’s latest styling language for electric vehicles. At the front, the MPV features a large illuminated grille surrounded by a glowing frame which gives it a futuristic presence on the road.

The headlights are connected by a continuous light strip and the daytime running lights feature star-shaped lighting elements, a design signature often seen on modern Mercedes models. Buyers can even choose how the brand’s famous logo appears on the vehicle. The car can be configured either with the classic three-pointed star on the bonnet or with a large emblem mounted in the grille.

From the side, the VLE has large electrically sliding doors. The vehicle can also be fitted with alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 22 inches. At the rear, the design is highlighted by a full-width inverted U-shaped LED light bar, with the Mercedes star placed prominently in the centre of the tailgate.

Cabin

One of the most striking features is a 31.8-inch retractable 8K display, which folds down from the roof to provide a cinema-like experience for passengers. The dashboard also features a triple-screen layout, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment screen, and a 14-inch passenger display.

Other highlights include a 750-watt Dolby Atmos sound system with 22 speakers, a panoramic glass roof, and a centre console that can be heated or cooled. Depending on the configuration, the VLE can accommodate five to eight passengers. The interior also offers flexible seating options, including Comfort Seats, Premium Comfort Seats and Grand Comfort Seats. When the rear seats are removed, the cargo capacity can expand to a massive 4,087 litres.

Power And Range

The VLE will be offered with multiple powertrain options as the VLE 300 variant uses a 115 kWh battery pack, which delivers a claimed driving range of up to 700 kilometres on a single charge.

Its electric motor produces around 272 horsepower and with fast charging, the vehicle can gain up to 320 km of range in just 15 minutes.

The VLE 400 variant offers all-wheel drive and produces around 410 horsepower. This version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.5 seconds, which is impressive for a large MPV. Mercedes-Benz has also indicated that a smaller 80 kWh battery version may be introduced in the future.

Luxury MPVs have traditionally focused on comfort and practicality, but the VLE shows how the segment is evolving with electric technology and digital features.

While it remains unclear if the VLE will arrive in India, the unveiling demonstrates how premium brands are redefining family mobility with long-range electric power, high-tech interiors and versatile space.
