VinFast Electric Scooter Design Patented in India

  • VinFast is planning to enter the Indian market
  • Likely to launch three models
  • Launch likely in the second half of 2026

VinFast, the Vietnamese EV maker, just patented the design of an electric scooter in India. The manufacturer had been planning to enter the Indian electric two-wheeler market for a while, and it appears to be taking the first steps.

The brand had revealed earlier that it plans to launch around three electric scooters in the Indian market by the second half of 2026. The scooter in the design patent is similar to the Viper, which is sold internationally.

But some visual differences make the scooter in the patent stand out. It features a slightly different headlight design, but the overall profile looks similar to the Viper and could likely be an updated version of the same.

The Viper is sold in Indonesia in two variants with removable batteries, and here’s a breakdown of the differences:

Variant

2-Battery

1-Battery

Battery Capacity

2x 1.5kWh

1.5kWh

Range

145km

82km

Charging Times (0 to 100 per cent)

9 hours

4.5 hours

Motor Power

5.2kW

3kW

Top Speed

90kmph

70kmph

Currently, it is not known whether VinFast will sell the scooter in two variants in India, or will offer only the 1-Battery variant as standard, as it does in Vietnam. VinFast could opt for the 1-Battery variant to keep costs in check.

When launched, the brand will go up against other established players like Ather, Ola, Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube. So, the biggest challenge for the brand is setting up a proper sales and service network.
