A New BMW i7 Is On The Horizon And It Will Be More Than A Facelift!

BMW i7 Neue Klasse Coming Soon? Here’s What To Expect

When it comes to luxury electric cars, the segment leaders are currently in the middle of a shift from earlier-generation models to next-generation EV platforms, which are more advanced and efficient. European brands such as Mercedes-Benz have the MMA 800-volt architecture and BMW Group has the ‘Neue Klasse’ architecture. Cars based on these platforms are setting new benchmarks in how luxurious, hi-tech and energy efficient the next-generation of electric vehicles can be. With both German automakers leading the charge, we are due to see the world premiere of the new BMW i3 Neue Klasse on March 18, but the automaker has a lot more planned in the coming months.

At the recently held BMW Group Annual Conference 2026, the management hinted towards comprehensive updates coming to the BMW 7-series and i7 range of saloons. Several spy shot visuals of a new-generation i7 have also been circulating on social media, hinting towards a ‘Neue Klasse’ upgrade of the i7 electric saloon. As per reports, the new-generation BMW i7 Neue Klasse could have a world premiere as soon as April 2026, at the Beijing Motor Show in China.

Based on what we have seen in the BMW iX3 Neue Klasse, the new i7 will most likely be a massive upgrade over the existing car. It will be based on the automaker’s Gen6 EV-only architecture, giving it an expected range of over 700 km. The 800-volt architecture will allow ultra-fast DC charging capabilities of up to 400 kW and it would most likely have a dual-motor drivetrain set up.

Current Generation BMW i7 Saloon

The next important upgrade in the new i7 Neue Klasse would be the introduction of the BMW ‘Superbrain’, which refers to four high-performance computers that work together to give faster performance response via the BMW Dynamic Performance Control software and also deliver a new digital interface for the driver and passengers. The superbrain is capable of adjusting drivetrain, braking and steering functions in real-time to ensure maximum driving feedback and dynamic performance for drivers.
