TVS X Shown in One-Off Art Editions for Added Flavour

  • 3 one-of-one custom TVS X creations with designer Manoviraj Khosla
  • Aluminium Xleton platform with ram-air cooled motor

TVS Motor Company takes different route with the TVS X Collectors’ Soirée showcasing three one-off design-led creations. These custom TVS X machines were developed in collaboration with designer Manoviraj Khosla and draw inspiration from Karnataka’s artistic and architectural heritage, including Hampi, Channapatna craft and Mysuru royalty. Giving the project a clear cultural theme, the base X itself already has a strong technical identity which gets accentuated furthermore.

The soirée or evening was meant to position mobility within design, culture and craft rather than in a conventional product-showcase setting. The TVS X already carries a certain design-led and engineering-led character. Its proportions, platform and performance claims make it a more natural object for reinterpretation.

TVS X has always been positioned as the sharper and more design-conscious end of TVS Motor’s EV line-up. Built on its Xleton platform, X uses a high-strength aluminium alloy frame and aims for a high stiffness-to-weight ratio. The scooter’s fluid layout and aerodynamic profile also helps make it a great start for a design-led exercise like this one.

As a first in a series of curated experiences, more such exercises will use the TVS X as a design canvas to take Indian art and cultural narratives forward. TVS is trying to expand the role of the product beyond transport and into lifestyle, design and patronage. The choice of Karnataka-inspired themes and the support for artisan-focused work through the auction proceeds give the programme an interesting story-telling.
