Ola Roadster X Plus Price Reduced by Rs. 60,000

  • Roadster X Plus now costs Rs. 1,29,999, ex-showroom
  • Price cut is led by improved production efficiency
  • Ola will sell it in limited batches

Ola Electric has reduced the price of its flagship electric motorcycle, the Ola Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, by ₹60,000. The bike now costs ₹1,29,999, down from ₹1,89,999 (ex-showroom). The company says the lower price is due to improved production efficiency of its in-house 4680 Bharat battery cells at its Gigafactory.

However, the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh will no longer be available through regular open sales. Instead, Ola will sell it in limited batches during specific purchase windows. The first booking window opens on 3 April from 6pm to 9pm, with future slots to be announced later depending on production. The Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh is currently Ola’s top-spec electric motorcycle and claims a range of up to 500km on a full charge. Ola also said demand for the motorcycle is currently higher than supply, which is why deliveries will be controlled through timed sales.

Separately, the company reported over 10,000 registrations in March, marking a strong month-on-month increase in sales. Moreover, Ola is also expanding battery production capacity at its Gigafactory, targeting 6GWh in the next phase.

While the massive price cut on the Ola Roadster X Plus makes it much more compelling now, the reliability of the motorcycle and the company’s after-sales service continues to be questionable. Several Ola scooter and motorcycle owners continue to report issues related to software glitches and the lack of ability and resources of service centres to fix technical problems. That said, Ola’s CEO acknowledged these concerns publicly earlier this year and announced initiatives like ‘hyper-service’ to address them. How effectively these campaigns mitigate the problems remains to be seen.
