April 2026 car launches India: VW Taigun facelift, Mercedes CLA EV, Toyota Ebella & Kia Seltos new variants; Check launch dates, prices & specs

India’s automotive market is set for another busy month in April 2026, with multiple carmakers rolling out updated models, new electric vehicles and revised line-ups. The activity follows a packed March that saw updates to the Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster, Hyundai Exter and Verna, along with changes to the Kia Sonet and Tata Harrier EV. According to a Times of India report, April’s offerings focus on refreshed SUVs, premium electric sedans and mass-market EVs, giving buyers wider choices across price segments.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Debut: April 9

Leading the April calendar is the Volkswagen Taigun facelift, scheduled to launch on April 9, 2026. The updated mid-size SUV receives revised front and rear bumpers, fresh LED lighting graphics and new interior features. Sharing the MQB-A0-IN platform with the recently updated Skoda Kushaq, the facelifted Taigun is expected to borrow several design and feature upgrades.

Spy images reveal a sleeker grille, new LED headlamps and DRLs connected by a thin LED strip, plus an illuminated Volkswagen logo. The rear gets updated taillamps, possibly with a full-width LED strip and illuminated badge. Interior changes are expected to include a panoramic sunroof, rear-seat massage, fully digital cluster and AI-based infotainment. Safety kit remains comprehensive with six airbags and advanced driver aids.

Engine options stay the same — 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (115 hp) and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (150 hp) — but the smaller engine gains an 8-speed torque-converter automatic for better efficiency and smoother shifts.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric Launch Date: April 24

On April 24, Mercedes-Benz will launch its new CLA electric in India. Bookings are open with a token of Rs 1.5 lakh. The CLA 250+ Long Range deliveries begin end-April, while the CLA 200 Standard Range follows in June 2026.

Two variants are on offer: CLA 200 Standard Range (expected Rs 55 lakh) and CLA 250+ Long Range (Rs 59 lakh, ex-showroom). Both support fast DC charging — up to 320 kW on the 250+ (400 km range in 20 minutes) and 200 kW on the 200. AC charging goes up to 22 kW. Pre-bookers get a complimentary wall-box charger. The model will tap into Mercedes’ nationwide CHARGE network of 9,000 points.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV: Launch date

Toyota will launch the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV sometime in April 2026, marking its entry into India’s mass-market electric SUV space. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella shares core components with its Maruti sibling and will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV.

Bookings are already open. The SUV offers two battery packs — 49 kWh (144 hp, 440 km range) and 61 kWh (174 hp, 543 km range) — both with front-axle single motors producing 189 Nm torque. Toyota is offering an 8-year battery warranty, 60 per cent buyback assurance and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Variants are expected to be E1, E2 and E3.

MG Majestor SUV: Launch date

MG Motor will introduce the new Majestor SUV in April 2026. Pre-bookings are live at Rs 41,000, with prices expected from Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). The body-on-frame SUV will compete directly with the Toyota Fortuner Legender in three variants — Sharp 4×4, Savvy 4×2 and Savvy 4×4.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215 hp, mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic and optional 4×4 system with MG’s M-Hub all-terrain management offering 10 drive modes, M-Crawl function and three differential locks. Water-wading capacity is rated at 810 mm. The cabin can be configured as six-seater (captain seats) or seven-seater and features a redesigned dashboard, 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital cluster, JBL 12-speaker audio, ventilated/massaging seats, three-zone climate control and panoramic sunroof. Deliveries begin in May 2026.

Kia Seltos new variants 2026

The 2026 Kia Seltos is expected to introduce two new top-spec variants. While this has not been officially confirmed, the updated model is likely to be launched in April 2026. The new variants are expected to be optional versions of the GTX and X-Line trims. Reports indicate they could include features such as a head-up display linked to seat memory and a dashboard camera.
The head-up display was shown at the global unveiling but is not available in the current range, while the dashboard camera is likely to be offered at the dealer level. These variants are expected to be priced above the GTX and X-Line trims but below ADAS-equipped models. There is no confirmation yet on the availability of GTX (O) (A) and X-Line (O) (A) variants. If introduced, these would become the top trims in the lineup.
