Akrapovic Now Offers Titanium Footpegs

Akrapovic steps beyond exhaust systems with its Adventure Footpeg Set for adventure motorcycles. Part number F-BM13T1 on the vehicle finder lists it against R 1300 GS Adventure, R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure, R 1150 GS, R 1150 GS Adventure and the R 12 nineT, R 12, and R 12 G/S range. So you can easily pair your Akrapovic titanium exhaust with cool new footpegs.

Akrapovic says the footpegs are cast in its own foundry using Grade 5 titanium. It’ll help with its strong strength-to-weight balance and corrosion resistance because you will be running your adventure motorcycles through water, mud, stones and long road use. One-piece construction also means better rigidity.

Designed around an octagonal shape with Y-shaped reinforcement, it offers improved mechanical strength and gives the rider a more stable platform while standing. A wider and stronger peg allows better body movement and makes it easier to shift weight between the front and rear of the motorcycle.

The central teeth on the footpegs are designed to spread weight more evenly and improve grip. In off-road riding, grip at the boot is as important as tyre grip because the rider controls the motorcycle not only through the handlebar but also through the legs and feet. Akrapovic says the layout has been made for standing and heel-down riding on enduro terrain.

Akrapovic has also included a pair of rubber pads in the package. These pads can be fitted without tools and are meant to reduce vibration during road riding. This is useful because many adventure bikes spend a large part of their life on highways before reaching trails. With the rubber pads fitted you get better comfort on long road sections. Without them, the metal teeth offer stronger boot grip when riding off-road.
