Yamaha R15 and R3 70th Anniversary Edition Launched Overseas

– Gets red and white racing paint schemes

– Launched in Brazil

– Unlikely to come to India

Yamaha has launched the 70th Anniversary Editions of the R15 and the R3 in Brazil. The former is priced at BRL 24,090 (Rs 4.69 lakh), while the latter costs Rs. BRL 37,790 (Rs 7.36 lakh). The special edition models feature the new white and red colour scheme, which adds to the visual appeal of the bikes. Yamaha used the white and red colours for its factory racing Grand Prix bikes before transitioning to its blue theme in the 1990s.

Besides the white and red paint scheme, both bikes also feature the speed block graphics, which has historical relevance to the Yamaha race bikes from the 1970s. The bikes gets a red finish on the fairing, fuel tank, and the side panels, while the rest of the bodywork in finished in white.

Mechanically, both motorcycles remain unchanged. The Yamaha R15 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor take makes 18.8bhp and 14.7Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the Yamaha R3 uses a 321cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 41bhp and 29.42Nm.

The R3 was updated internationally last year with a new front end and more features, making it more relevant in the sub-400cc segment. The R15, meanwhile, is due for an update internationally as well as in India.

These special edition R15 and R3 are limited to the Brazilian market for now. That said, we do hope Yamaha launches these in India, especially the R15, which is a huge success in India.
