Norton Atlas global launch in July, first production bike rolls out of Hosur

Norton Motorcycles has rolled out the first Atlas motorcycle from TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company has also announced that the Atlas launches globally in July. The bike will go on sale in India later this year.

The Norton Atlas is one of the most anticipated motorcycles of this year and it will be sold in two variants – the adventure-focused Atlas and the road-oriented Atlas GT.

Recently, Norton announced the specifications and features of the Atlas and Atlas GT. To recap, the ADV is powered by a 585cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree firing order. This should give it a deep, soulful sound, characteristic of parallel-twins with such a firing order. This engine makes 69bhp at 9,300rpm and a peak torque of 57.5Nm at 7,300rpm

In terms of features, the bike is loaded to the gills. It has a Bosch six-axis IMU, lean-sensitive rider aids, five riding modes, fully adjustable KYB suspension, cornering cruise control, an 8-inch TFT display, and smartphone connectivity through the Norton Rider app.

The design of the Atlas is one of its highlights and its clean and simple lines are in keeping with the ethos of the Norton brand’s design philosophies. Under the bodywork, there is a steel trellis frame that is suspended by a USD fork and monoshock.

The standard Atlas rides on a 19-inch front wheel for improved off-road capability, while the Atlas GT uses 17-inch wheels at both ends for a more road-focused riding experience.

The Norton Atlas is likely to go on sale in India by the festive season and we expect it to be priced competitively.
