Recently, a few supercars and sports cars were seized in Hyderabad for street racing and reckless driving. The cars were being driven by a group of individuals and they were making the most of the engine’s capabilities on public roads.
The seized cars included a red Ferrari 458 Italia, an orange Lamborghini Huracan 610-4, an orange Audi R8, and a red Mercedes Benz GT63S. The reckless driving didn’t last long as the Narsingi Police reacted promptly and stopped the drivers before seizing the vehicles.
Along with these high-end luxury cars, two Innova Crystas were seized. Also, a case has been filed against all 6 individuals under Section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
“They were testing speed of the Mercedes Benz. While two vehicles are owned by the accused, one is registered in the name of a company. We are still verifying ownership of the other three, accused have been asked to produce necessary documents,” said S Murali, the Sub Inspector of Narsingi Police.
The Ferrari 458 Italia comes powered with a 4.5-litre V8 engine that has a total power output of 561.9bhp and 540Nm of torque. The engine came mated to a 7-speed F1 inspired dual-clutch transmission.
The Lamborghini Huracan 610-4 has a V10 5.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 602bhp and 560Nm of torque. This engine comes linked to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
Like the Huracan, a 5.2-litre V10 engine with 602bhp and 560Nm of torque is what powers the Audi R8. The R8 comes with Audi’s Quattro System which makes it an AWD and improves the vehicle dynamics.
The final luxury car that was seized in this road run was a Mercedes Benz AMG GT63S and it comes powered by a 4.0-litre V8 BiTurbo engine which has the largest power output of the lot. It produces 630bhp and an incredible 900Nm of torque and the power is sent to all 4 wheels of the car.
Street racing is a very unsafe activity to participate in. it not only puts the driver and passengers at risk but also the other motorists on the road. One small mistake and it could end in a tragic situation. Certain cars should be driven in a controlled environment at such speeds to ensure utmost safety.
