Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition: What Is New?

Aprilia recently launched the Tuono 457 Special Edition at Rs. 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant of the motorcycle has undergone several changes compared to the standard version, and here’s a detailed breakdown:

New Colours

The Tuono 457 Special Edition gets two new colours: Mamba Black and Puma Grey. Both feature distinct graphics and are inspired by the colours offered on the 2006 Tuono 1000R. The new shades give the Special Edition a unique look.

The Mamba Black colour scheme is aimed at riders looking for a subtle and understated colour, whereas the Puma Grey is the bolder of the two.

Revised Ergonomics

The Special Edition features taller handlebars than the standard variant, giving the rider a more upright riding posture. Additionally, Aprilia has also added adjustable brake and clutch levers, giving riders the option to adjust the reach as per their fingers.

The seat now features high-resilience foam that should offer more support and be better suited to long hours on the saddle.

Tweaked Suspension

The suspension has been adjusted with a softer initial stroke, which should make it more capable of absorbing bumps and potholes on the road. The damping characteristics have also been recalibrated.

Apart from the changes listed above, the bike’s performance remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 457cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 47.6bhp and 43.5Nm.

At the price of Rs. 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Special Edition is around Rs. 3,000 more expensive than the standard. For the changes the Special Edition gets, the premium is quite reasonable.
