Bengaluru Auto Driver Breaks Down – ‘Shakti Scheme’ Made Him Earn Close To Nothing

A Bengaluru Auto Driver broke down in tears after only earning Rs. 40 in 5 hours of work. He was on shift from 8 am to 1 pm when he realised this. It is said that this is because of the new ‘Shakti Scheme’ of free bus rides that the Karnataka Government recently put out. However, how authentic the video is remains unknown as there is no date for when the video was taken.

The video emerged on Twitter and received a lot of mixed reactions seeing the Auto Driver in tears. Some people felt it was deserved as auto drivers are known for looting customers, although there are some honest ones, too. Others empathized with the auto driver as this was quite an unfortunate event.

Pushing people into poverty.

On the Twitter post, the caption read, “A Bengaluru auto driver in tears after collecting just Rs 40/- from 8 am to 1 pm. This is the result of free bus rides given by the new Cong govt in Karnataka. Pushing people into poverty.”

This new scheme from the Karnataka Government is known as the ‘Shakti’ scheme and was brought forward by the Congress party. This scheme allows free travel for women and transgenders in Government Buses all over the State.

This new scheme will prove to be helpful to over 41.8 Lakh women per day and annually, the state would have to spend Rs. 4,051.56 Crore. CM Siddaramaiah also mentioned that this scheme is to tackle social inequality and for the benefit of minorities and deprived classes. Another spokesperson said that the aim is to improve safety and ease of travel for women commuters.

Seeing the video of the Bengaluru Auto Driver crying is quite disheartening as we can not even imagine the plight he is in or what he’s going through. Though this video may not be credible, it still shows an auto driver in tears which isn’t a nice thing to see.

With the launch of the ‘Shakti Scheme’, we may be seeing a lot more situations like this rise in the near future as this will have an effect on the daily earnings of auto drivers. On the other hand, the scheme will help females travel from point A to point B with ease and safety. Every positive comes with a negative – it’s best to take things with a pinch of salt.
