Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Anushka Sharma recently got into trouble with the Mumbai Police for the same reason. Both were caught on camera riding pillion on motorcycles while not wearing a helmet.
In the case of Big B, he was snapped riding pillion on a Royal Enfield Himalayan. Bachchan Sr. even took to to tell his 34 million followers all about the story.
Amitabh Bachchan told his fans that he was running late for work when he hitched a ride on the back of a Himalayan. Bachchan thanked his unlikely saviour in the post.
Similarly, Anushka Sharma was snapped by the paparazzi getting on the pillion seat of a Bajaj Pulsar 220F being ridden by her bodyguard. The actress was apparently trying to avoid delays caused by roadblocks.
Both the actress and her bodyguard were not wearing helmets when they were papped on video by a nearby celebrity spotting snapper. They were filmed riding away by the aforemetntioned pap.
Challan has been issued u/s 129/194(D) of MV ACT along with fine of Rs 1000 & it is been paid by the offender.
Thanks to both rides going viral on the section of the internet obsessed with the whos-who of Bollywood, the social posts soon were soon in the crosshairs of the Mumbai traffic police department. The traffic police investigated both cases and handed out fines to the riders of the vehicles.
Despite later stating on his personal blog that his Instagram post was from a film shoot in the nation’s financial capital. However, this clarification didn’t spare the rider from the police’s wrath as he was issued a fine of Rs 1,000 for helmetless riding under section 129/194(D) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Challan has been issued under Sec 129/194(D), Sec 5/180 & Sec 3(1)181 MV act to the driver along with an fine of Rs. 10500 & been paid by the offender.
In Anushka Sharma’s case, the fine imposed was a lot higher at Rs 10,500. While both riders were penalised for not wearing a helmet, the rider, (Anushka’s bodyguard) was also challaned for not having a valid license and riding without a valid license.
Thoughts On The Celeb Helmetless Riding Incidents
These two incidents show that even celebs get caught and fined by the long arm of the law for traffic violations. While Big B’s incident was part of a film shoot, this does not excuse anyone from riding a helmet while riding a two-wheeler. Just remember, your safety is more important than a few moments enjoying the wind in your hair.
