BMW Motorrad has extended its lineup of M motorcycles with the launch of the new M 1000 XR in the Indian market. The bike comes at a starting price of Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). It is to be noted this bike is the third one to sport an ‘M’ badge in the brand’s arsenal joining the supersport M 1000 RR and the naked M 1000 R. To improve its performance the bike draws inspiration from the outgoing S 1000 XR and S 1000 RR model. The changes that come because of it are visible in the form of its design and multiple other aspects.
The design of the BMW M 1000 XR makes it look quite muscular while simultaneously highlighting its sporty side. The bike has a symmetrical design with a split LED headlight and LED DRLs. It has also been equipped with M winglets to improve its aero. These generate enough downforce to keep the bike stable at high speed. To complement these looks, the bike gets a Blackstorm Metallic paint finish and an M Motorsport colour scheme.
The bike has been equipped with a load of features to support the rider. To begin with, the rider gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with an M logo start-up animation for aesthetic appeal, an OBD interface for the M GPS data logger, and an M GPS Laptrigger. The comfort features include an electronic cruise control system, strong LED lights, adaptive turning light, heated grips, lightweight M battery, a USB charging outlet, and more.
Powering the BMW M 1000 XR is a 999 cc in-line four-cylinder engine that drops 198 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. All of this is capable of launching the bike from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. Additionally, the bike is capable of reaching a top speed of 275 kmph. To adjust the riding dynamics, the automaker offers multiple riding modes- Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro 1-3.
