BSA Scrambler 650 India Launch Expected Tomorrow

Classic Legends is all set to host a launch event tomorrow, 23 April. The company is expected to launch multiple products, and one of them could be the BSA Scrambler 650 that has been pending for a long time now.

Classic Legends’ BSA brand has just one motorcycle in its portfolio, the Goldstar 650. Introducing the Scrambler, which is already on sale in select international markets, will add more variety to BSA’s Indian portfolio. The Scrambler 650 is based on the Goldstar, but boasts some hardware and design to do justice to its name.

Powering the Scrambler 650 is the same 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Goldstar. This motor makes around 46bhp and a peak torque of 55Nm and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. It rides on 19-17-inch spoke wheel combination shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. The sub-frame is different for the Scrambler as it boasts a sleeker tail with a bench-style seat. Moreover, there’s a different exhaust canister, perhaps for a throatier sound.

The Scrambler 650 will probably be a more affordable alternative to the Royal Enfield Bear 650, which will be the direct rival to the BSA. While the Bear 650 starts from Rs. 3.75 lakh, ex-showroom, the BSA should be priced around Rs. 20,000-30,000 less, considering its more traditional equipment and a single-cylinder engine, unlike the Bear’s twin-cylinder unit.
