Bugatti Veyron & Chiron Maintainance Costs Revealed – Big Wallets Needed

The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most recognizable hypercars around the world. The Veyron along with its successor the Chiron have smashed speed records in a way that caused a revolution in the super rarified world of hypercars.

Owning one of these beastly Bugattis though can be quite a burden on the bank account. But just how big of a dent does maintaining these beasts cost? Let’s dive into it with the help of a few YouTubers with access to these brilliant machines.

Let’s first take a look at the OG VW group Bugatti, the Veyron. For this, we have real estate mogul and car collector extraordinaire Manny Khosbin. In a video from a few years ago, Khosbin revealed the astronomical maintenance costs for some bits of the Veyron.

Khoshbin revealed that a full fluid change – which Bugatti recommends you do annually – costs $25,000 (Rs 20.54 lakh). The reason for this Khosbin reveals is the fact that to change all the fluids, Bugatti service personnel need to remove the rear tyres and brakes, the lining on the fenders and underneath the hypercar to access the 16 drainage plugs.

However, the fluid change is not really the big wallet drainer. Khosbin revealed that changing the tyres (full set) on the Veyron costs $38,000 (Rs 31.23 lakh). Bugatti recommends that owners replace the tyres every few years.

However, the biggest pain point seems to be the wheels. Khosbin revealed that Veyron’s rims cost $50,000 (Rs 41.1 lakhs) for the set. Once again, Bugatti recommends you replace the rims every 10,000 miles (just over 16,000km).

Switching to the Chiron, well, the details come from the Hamilton Collection who have one of the most stunning collection of hypercars on Youtube. The ‘regular’ Chiron upped the OG Veyron’s power from 986bhp to 1,479bhp.

The Hamilton Collection revealed that the annual service costs $11,500 (Rs 9.45 lakh). However, if your car is out of warranty, the service costs $34,000 (Rs 27.94 lakh) which is the ‘usual’ cost of the four-year major service.

Let’s get to replacing parts. If that beastly 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 needs to be replaced, you’ll need to shell out $856,406.98 (Rs 7.03 crore). The twin-clutch gearbox costs $185,000 (Rs 1.52 crore) to replace.

The brake replacement costs are also nothing to sneeze at. The discs themselves cost $18,000 (Rs 14.79 lakh) be it the front or the rear pair). The front brake pads cost $6,700 (Rs 5.5 lakhs) while the rear pads are slightly more bearable at $4,000 (Rs 3.28 lakh).

The Bugatti Veyron and Chiron are some of the most valuable hypercars on the planet today and it comes as no surprise that the maintenance costs are astronomically high.
