Cops urge NMC to clear encroachments around parking space in Mumbai Naka

Nashik: The Nashik city police have written to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) requesting the clearance of encroachments blocking access to a parking lot beneath a commercial complex at Mumbai Naka.
Despite having a spacious parking lot in the basement of the complex, a large number of vehicles are parked along the roadside near the Mumbai Naka junction. Motorists struggle to locate the parking lot because the path leading to it is obstructed by numerous kiosks selling food and other articles. As a result, the parking lot often remains vacant while vehicles are rampantly parked on the street adjacent to the building.
In an effort to tackle the issue of illegal parking, the police recently implemented a vehicle-towing system. However, the initiative has faced resistance from some citizens and political outfits, who are questioning the administration on where they should park their vehicles.
In response, the police are exploring potential parking solutions. Traffic police have identified the underutilized basement parking lot, which has the capacity to accommodate at least 63 two-wheelers and 38 cars.
The issue was brought to the attention of DCP (HQ and Traffic) Chandrakant Khandvi. Police officials believe that if the parking lot is utilized to its full potential, it could help alleviate the vehicular chaos near this busy junction.
