Gypsy’s nimble handling, impressive manoeuvrability, and ability to traverse challenging terrains made it a perfect vehicle for swiftly deploying troops for missions. Recently there were reports regarding a program in which ICE Gypsy’s are being converted into Electric Gypsy’s.
Tata Motors developed special 4X4 variants of Tata Sumo to support the Indian Army Medical Corps. The SUV mostly served as an ambulance at the war front, and its specially designed four-wheel drive system made the Tata Sumo capable of conquering every terrain thrown against it.
The Tata Safari Storme is the other important car on the list. Specially customised for the Indian Army, this was the most capable version of the SUV. Tata Motors initially received an order for 3,192 units of the Safari Storme GS800.
Although specific performance details are not disclosed, the GS800 engine was significantly tuned to deliver more power than the standard civilian models. Even today, the Indian Army relies heavily on the GS800s across the country.
Even though Mahindra had limited the production and slashed the variants of the Scorpio Classic for the public, the mighty SUV is still remembered and loved by many auto enthusiasts.
