How To Remove Dents From Car – Easy DIY Methods

Though getting a dent in your car is just a blink away, it can be both mentally frustrating and expensive to repair. As such, here are a few easy methods to remove dents from car without breaking your wallet.

This method can be used where you can access the dent from underneath the sheet metal. Hitting the underside of the dented area with a mallet will remove the dent up to a certain extent, where the dent is barely visible to the naked eye.

It is also worth mentioning that keeping a thick piece of cloth between the mallet and the sheet metal will significantly reduce the chances of paint damage and minor dents.

The plunger method is suitable for pulling dents out of both sheet metal and fibre parts. Simply pour some water on the affected area to clear any dust and use the plunger to pull out the dent.

If the dent is bigger, you can try pulling the plunger from different angles. Also, if the affected part is made from fibre, pouring hot water over the affected area will make it easier to pull the dent using a plunger.

Sticking bottle cork to the dented area using hot glue and then pulling the cork is a very effective way to pull the dent out. Moreover, fixing screws on the opposite sides of bottle corks will give better leverage while pulling these corks out.

The dent removal kit is just a more sophisticated version that works on the same principle as the Hot Glue & Cork method. Instead of pulling the dent out with the force of your bare hands, a dent removal kit uses a screw mechanism to pull the dent out with even pressure.

This method works on the principle based on the expansion and contraction of metal. Once you heat the affected area of the sheet metal using a hair dryer, applying ice on the same area will pop the metal back into its original place, thanks to the contraction of metal.

Though dents are very common, it can be mentally very frustrating. Moreover, repairing dents from a professional can be quite expensive as well. As such, following the above steps will help you successfully pull out dents from your car without breaking your wallet.
