Hyundai – Shell Partnership: EV-Charging Infrastructure To See Rapid Expansion In India

Hyundai has partnered with Shell to install 60 kW DC Fast Chargers in 36 EV Dealerships in India. This collaboration with Shell is a key step in Hyundai’s plan to expand its EV charging infrastructure for BEVs in India.

The press meet took place at the headquarters of HMIL in Gurugram, Haryana, and the MoA was signed in the presence of Mr. Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director, Hyundai Motor India Limited, and Mr. Sanjay Varkey, Director, Shell India Markets Private Limited.

Hyundai currently has a network of 72 EV Dealerships operating in 45 cities, which was the first phase of establishing public EV charging facilities in India. The second phase, in collaboration with Shell India, has begun to install 36 DC 60/120 kW fast charging stations across dealerships.

These fast chargers provide customers with a convenient, dependable, fast, and secure charging experience.Hyundai has significantly invested in developing its Charger Management Systems (CMS). This open platform promises customers a smooth and hassle-free charging experience, irrespective of the EV brand.

Through this partnership, Shell’s network of chargers will be integrated into Hyundai’s Charger Management Systems (CMS). The CMS platform offers advanced features such as digital payment, locating charging stations, and navigation, making it an exceptional initiative by Hyundai to facilitate EV charging in India.

Mr. Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India, commented on the announcement: “Hyundai is always working to improve customer convenience and establish strategic partnerships to support the government’s clean mobility vision.” He also added that Such collaborations are crucial in accelerating customers’ interest in electric vehicles.

Mr. Sanjay Varkey, Director of Shell India Markets Private Limited, stated, “Shell is focused on providing integrated mobility solutions and enhancing the overall journey for customers. They aim to meet the increasing demand for electric mobility and offer convenient retail services.”

He added,” Through their partnership with Hyundai, they intend to enhance the charging infrastructure for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in India, providing easy access and dynamic availability for a safe, reliable, and seamless charging experience.”
