It can be difficult for new drivers to drive in hilly areas as it is quite tricky to judge oncoming traffic, especially around blind corners. As such, numerous accidents occur in hill stations as many drivers fail to understand the driving techniques around hilly areas.
Now, a dashcam video has gone viral which shows a Kia Seltos driver panicking and causing an accident after spotting an oncoming truck just around a blind corner of a hilly area.
In the video, it can be seen that the Kia Seltos driver is going downhill at speeds of around 45km/h. In addition to that, the Kia Seltos driver further reduces the speed to just 35km/h as soon as he nears the blind right-hand corner.
However, despite the efforts, the driver panics after spotting the truck on the wrong side of the road and swerves to the right side of the road. At the same time, the truck driver also swerves to his left side and rams the Kia Seltos head-on.
Looking at this viral video, we can see how easily we can make a simple judgemental error while driving through hilly areas. It is also worth mentioning that it is not possible to blame the truck driver as he needs to make a wider turn to make the corner.
That being said, driving in hilly areas are not as straightforward as driving on the plains as the driver needs to be alert and understand the driving requirements of the hilly areas.
Also, the driver must be able to understand the different driving approaches of different vehicles such as large vehicles requiring a wider area to turn and giving way to the traffic going uphill.
The video of Kia Seltos hitting a truck in the hilly areas is a reminder that accidents can be caused even if both drivers are not speeding or involved in any kind of rash driving. As such, we urge our readers to be very cautious while going to hill stations.
