Lamborghini Urus SE Plug-In Hybrid Introduced As ‘Most Powerful’ Urus Yet

The world is moving towards cleaner and more environment-friendly powertrain options for the vehicles. A large part of it consists of EVs and plug-in hybrids. However, many believe that these vehicles are dull when compared to fossil fuel-powered vehicles. But that’s not the case with Lamborghini. The Italian brand has made its first SUV and the best-selling vehicle better by using a plug-in hybrid system to aid the V8 engine. As you might have guessed this bumps up the power which improves the performance of the SUV. The brand is calling this new vehicle Urus SE.

Since power is the most highlighted part of the new vehicles let’s talk about it first. The Lamborghini Urus SE as mentioned by the brand has “two hearts”, thermal and electric. This means the SUV uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which produces 611 bhp of power and 800 Nm of peak torque. This is added by an electric motor producing 189 bhp of power and 483 Nm of peak torque. This gives the SUV a total output of 789 bhp. The electric motor is powered by a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery.

This power is better expressed with the performance figures of the PHEV SUV. To be specific, the Urus SE can go from 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds. When compared to the Urus S, the SE is faster by 0.1 seconds while it loses to the Urus Performante by the same margin. Additionally, the car is capable of reaching a top speed of 312 kmph which beats the top speed of Urus S (305 kmph) by 7 kmph on paper. When compared to others in the segment, the Urus SE is the fastest. Furthermore, it also holds the title of being the most powerful Urus ever.

Along with these mechanical changes, the brand has added a few changes around the body of the car. For instance, the Lamborghini Urus SE gets a few changes over the standard version of the SUV. The changes in the front fascia and the hood are inspired by the Reveulto. Meanwhile, the rear end is inspired by the Gallardo. Taking a closer look, the SUV gets a spoiler and a new diffuser which together improve the downforce of the SUV by 35 percent when compared to the Urus S. To complement the overall look, the SUV gets new 23-inch wheels with over 100 body colour options.

The interiors of the car comprise of 12.3-inch infotainment screen, the air vents get a new look when compared to other SUVs. The brand has also upgraded the cabin with new coverings for the seats and dashboards. The brand has also changed the material on the switches to give it a more mechanical feel.
