A group of tourists from Delhi took their Mahindra Thar into the middle of the holy Ganga river in Haridwar for a wash. Haridwar, known for its spiritual and religious significance, attracts millions of visitors yearly. This action drew immediate attention from onlookers and sparked controversy.
The Uttarakhand police have issued six tourists a challan for allegedly taking their Mahindra Thar for a wash in the middle of the Ganges in Haridwar. The locals informed the regional police that a group of youngsters was washing their SUV in the Neel Dhara region of the holy river.
The police swiftly arrived at the scene and promptly issued challans to the offenders under the “Maryada” operation. Furthermore, the police seized the vehicle and would only release it if the offenders complied with the legal procedures.
The Maryada Operation was implemented in July 2021 to act against offenses committed by tourists/natives at a religious place. As per the operation, a team of 10 policemen was deployed in every ghat of the river Ganga, and the offenders will get subjected to strict judicial action.
It is a known fact that the Mahindra Thar offers impressive off-road capabilities, allowing it to navigate challenging terrains with ease. The off-roader is offered in two different engine options.
A 2.0-liter turbo-petrol variant, which produces 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine variant which produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque.
