Maruti Suzuki has locked horns with Mahindra after the launch of the Jimny SUV in India. Furthermore, various videos of Maruti Suzuki Jimny tackling difficult off-road conditions are available on the internet, and these videos more than prove the capability of the Indo-Japanese SUV.
While fans of both SUVs have been at each other’s throats since god knows when. Now, a new video has surfaced online showcasing a Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV rescuing a beached Mahindra Thar SUV. Furthermore, this video was uploaded by BRH Expeditions on their YouTube Channel.
It is also worth mentioning that the Maruti Suzuki Jimny featured in the above-mentioned video seems to have been equipped with slightly wider aftermarket tyres. In contrast, the Mahindra Thar SUV featured in the video looks stock with no visible modifications.
Coming to the video, both the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar SUVs tackle various off-road obstacles one after the other. Also, both SUVs successfully complete the challenges ahead even if it takes a couple of tries.
Once both the SUVs reached a steeper climb with a slope and a sharp turn on the other side, things got a lot trickier. Though the Maruti Suzuki Jimny got beached on its first attempt, the SUV managed to free itself and clear the obstacle successfully on the second attempt.
On the other hand, the Mahindra Thar also got beached on the almost exact spot, however, thanks to its heavier weight, the Thar landed in deeper trouble. Even after some extra hands joining the rescue operation, the Thar could not be rescued until Jimny managed to pull the SUV out.
Even in its second attempt, the Mahindra Thar could not overcome the obstacle. However, the third attempt saw the driver pick up a little bit of extra momentum and the Thar managed to successfully clear the obstacle.
Later in the video, once the sun has set, it is shown that both the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar failed to climb another obstacle and both the SUVs were later rescued by a tractor.
Both the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny are capable 4X4 SUVs. Also, a closer look at the video reveals that the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV has a bit more traction, and this played a key role in this particular environment.
However, this additional traction of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV could be down to the aftermarket tyres. On top of that, the compact dimensions and lower kerb weight of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny also gave it some sizeable advantage while tackling such a tight off-road course.
