Maruti Suzuki’s Creta EV Rival Launch Likely In September; Offers 500 KM Of Range And All-Wheel-Drive

Maruti Suzuki showcased the e-Vitara, its first electric vehicle, at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. The automaker has announced plans to begin production by September, aiming for an annual target of 70,000 units. According to a report by Reuters, Maruti Suzuki Chairman R.C. Bhargava stated that most of the e-Vitara units produced in India will be exported to Japan and Europe. In the Indian market, this electric vehicle will compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv.ev, and Mahindra BE 6.

Maruti Suzuki eVitara Will Offer 500 Km Of Range

The eVitara will be available with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger battery pack will provide a range of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge. The automaker has announced plans to invest in supporting infrastructure, including the installation of 1,500 charging stations across 1,000 cities in India. Additionally, a dedicated app will be launched to help customers easily find and use public charging locations.

Maruti’s first electric vehicle will be offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The variants equipped with the 49 kWh battery pack will feature a 174 hp motor mounted on the front axle. Meanwhile, the variants with the 61 kWh battery pack will include an additional 65 hp motor on the rear axle, providing an all-wheel-drive setup.
