New Mercedes AMG SL63 S E Performance Hybrid Roadster Unveiled

German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has taken the covers off the all new AMG SL 63 S E Performance hybrid roadster. This hybrid roadster gets a powertrain that is similar to the one seen in the AMG GT 63 S E performance, where the internal combustion engine works in tandem with the electric powertrain.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the new SL 63 S E Performance hybrid Roadster. The company is claiming that it is the most powerful SL model ever built by the company. This new version of the car benefits greatly from the inclusion of an electric powertrain improving its power output and acceleration while also reducing the car’s carbon footprint.

The newly unveiled AMG SL 63 S E performance features a hybrid powertrain which consists of a hand-built AMG 4.0 L V8 biturbo petrol engine that is combined with an AMG Electric Drive Unit. Working together with the powertrain churns out a combined power output of 816 bhp and 1,420 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 317 kmph. It now has a claimed fuel economy of 12.98 kmpl and has an EV only range of up to 13 km.

The 4.0 L V8 biturbo engine produces a standalone power output of 612 bhp and 850 Nm of torque, while the electric motor produces a standalone power output of 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

Being an AMG offering, this version of the SL gets numerous ride enhancement features like the AMG Active Ride Control suspension, active rear-axle steering to balance comfort and driving dynamics, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable moment distribution, AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system, AMG developed active spoiler for improved aerodynamics with 5 mode adjustment and eight AMG Dynamic Select driving modes – Electric, Battery Hold, Comfort, Smoothness, Sport, Sport+, Race and Individual.

This new version isn’t just about driving dynamics but looks, luxury and features too. Mercedes is offering this AMG SL 63 S E Performance with a 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, it features a distinct plug-in flap at the rear setting it visually apart from other versions of the car, AMG racing seats, seats with 3 massage programs, one and two-tone Nappa leather and MBUX multimedia system.
