Denza, the luxury vehicle division of Chinese manufacturer BYD, has officially revealed its upcoming arrival in India through a recent social media announcement. This confirmation follows earlier reports regarding BYD introducing the marque to the country within the coming months, alongside details of its initial two-vehicle lineup. The official Denza India social media handle displayed the company's blue-and-silver hourglass emblem accompanied by the text "Arriving soon," while the accompanying caption stated that the brand intends to deliver a refined, high-performance electric vehicle experience to domestic buyers. Denza vehicles will sit above the standard BYD product portfolio, specifically commanding price tags exceeding Rs 80 lakh.

Established initially in 2010 as a partnership between BYD and Mercedes-Benz Group, Denza became fully owned by BYD after Mercedes-Benz transferred its remaining shares in 2024. The brand currently retails luxury and performance EVs as well as plug-in hybrids across China, Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe, and Latin America.

Upcoming Denza Lineup for India

The Denza Z9 GT is a four-door shooting brake style, positioning it as the sole vehicle of its kind in the Indian marketplace. It features a 122.5kWh battery pack supplying power to a three-motor electric setup that generates 1,156hp with all-wheel drive. The car achieves a claimed 0-100kph acceleration time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 270kph. The Z9 GT provides a WLTP-certified driving range of 600km and supports DC charging speeds up to 1,500kW, allowing a 10 to 97 percent replenishment in nine minutes. Rear-wheel steering is included, enabling capabilities such as a sideways "crab walk" and a 360-degree "Compass Turn" rotation similar to the Mercedes G-Class Electric's G-Turn. Cabin amenities comprise a three-screen dashboard arrangement, two additional displays for exterior camera feeds, Level 2+ ADAS, complete leather seating, a 20-speaker Devialet audio setup, and power-adjustable, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. Anticipated pricing for the Z9 GT is estimated between Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore.

Accompanying the shooting brake is the Denza D9, a large luxury MPV designed to compete against models like the Toyota Vellfire and MG M9. The India-bound D9 is expected to utilize a 103kWh battery paired with a single front-mounted electric motor delivering 313hp and 360Nm of torque. Its WLTP range is rated at 520km, and it accepts DC charging up to 200kW. The cabin incorporates a 2+2+3 seating configuration featuring electrically adjustable second-row captain's chairs with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Additional cabin features consist of three-zone climate control, powered thigh supports, a Dynaudio sound system, leather upholstery, and ambient illumination. The D9 is projected to cost around Rs 90 lakh, positioning it between the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. All figures are ex-showroom, India.
