Tata has introduced a subtle exterior and interior refresh for the Punch EV, bringing various design updates and new technological features while maintaining the core foundation of its predecessor.
Exterior and Styling Updates
The updated model sees the removal of the connected LED light bar at the front, replaced by LED daytime running lamps positioned at the edges. The black strip on the bumper has also been eliminated to achieve a cleaner aesthetic, alongside a redesigned lower chin featuring a new silver faux skid plate. The side profile stays mostly unchanged, though a ‘tata.ev’ badge has been added to the lower section of the front doors.
Significant modifications are concentrated at the rear, which now matches the layout of the internal combustion engine (ICE) powered Punch. It incorporates a connected LED tail-light setup and a fresh bumper design. While overall dimensions are largely maintained, the revised model offers a ground clearance of 195mm, sitting 5mm higher than the prior version.
Cabin and Technology
Inside, the updated vehicle carries over the predecessor's layout, maintaining a dual-tone theme for both the cabin and seat upholstery. It continues to utilize the two-spoke steering wheel, touch-operated HVAC controls, and dual 10.25-inch displays dedicated to the infotainment system and instrument cluster.
Several technological enhancements have been integrated into the cabin experience. The feature list now includes over-the-air updates, voice command capabilities supporting six languages, and smartwatch connectivity.
Safety Equipment
The safety suite largely mirrors the outgoing model, incorporating six airbags, electronic stability program, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, an electronic parking brake featuring auto-hold, and a 360-degree camera. Additional carried-over elements include a blind-view monitor, hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, and hill-descent control.
A notable addition to the safety suite is a high beam alert mechanism. This system warns the driver to lower their headlight beams in brightly illuminated urban environments to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic at speeds of up to 40kph. While the new version awaits testing by BNCAP for crash safety, the previous iteration achieved a 5-star rating.
