PM Modi’s First US Visit Of 2023 To Be Made In A Boeing 777-300ER Aircraft – Everything You Need To Know

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the US for the first time in 2023. This is his sixth trip to the US as the Prime Minister of India and the visit is scheduled from 21 to 24 June.

Since Modi’s appointment as the Prime Minister of India, he has made 95 trips to 58 countries. In fact, Rs 518 crores have been spent on PM Modi’s foreign travel between 2014 and 2019.

This brings curiosity around the aircraft he uses to make these travels. That being said, the government of India recently spent Rs 8,400 crores to buy two Boeing 777-300ER aeroplanes to meet the travel requirements of the country’s top 3 VVIPs.

One of these aircraft with the call sign Air India One will be used by PM Modi for his 15-hour long flight to Washington DC. However, the plane will not be going to the US alone but it will be escorted by a special team of Indian Air Force officials.

Speaking about security, the new Boeing 777-300ER aeroplanes have been fitted with the most advanced missile defence mechanism and communication systems. These state-of-the-art security systems are part of the US-India strategic relationships defence and they are in line with the defence systems in the US President’s Air Force One.

Some of the highlighting defence systems include the Large Aircraft Infrared Counter Measures (LAIRCM) and Advanced Integrated Defence Electronic Warfare Suites. These two systems have been retrofitted to the two Boeing 777-300ER aeroplanes under the approval of then-US President Donald Trump.

Other noticeable add-ons in the Air India One include a conference room, an operation theatre, a luxurious lounge, and a spacious bedroom. Furthermore, the Air India One aircraft also has the capacity to store food for approximately 2,000 people.

That being said, PM Modi will have a one-on-one talk with US President Joe Biden at the Oval Office. The duo is also said to light a ceremonial lamp to celebrate Diwali. Furthermore, the four-day visit to the US is tightly packed with many events and meetings.

The security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is of utmost importance to the country. As such, the new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft justifies its price tag with its latest and most advanced defence technologies and the luxurious amenities it offers.
