Rajasthan Transport Minister Announces Eye Test Drive for Commercial Drivers, Focus on Road Safety Intensifies

The transport minister of the Rajasthan, Mr. Krishnendra Kaur Rawat takes the fleet of commercial vehicle drivers on an Eye Test Drive, and the focus on Road Safety enhances.

Yet another way by which the authorities have made it difficult for commercial vehicle drivers to get business is that Rajasthan’s transport minister, Yunis Khan, recently announced that all commercial drivers will be compulsorily subjected to an eye test drive in order to renew their licenses; the government is serious about improving road safety.

Jaipur:Speaking to the press on Friday on behalf of the state transport minister Prem Chand Bairwa who also chaired the meeting of transport department members, the minister said the transport department has written to the health department to launch a joint drive to take eye tests of all commercial vehicle drivers in Rajasthan.

Addressing the media during the post-departmental review meeting, Bairwa laid thrust on the government’s approach to improving the road safety. “We have engaged other departments to try and work at various aspects that lead to traffic accidents. The use of the high beam during the evening is one huge factor that leads to poor visibility and accidents. The measures we have taken continue to include eradicating black spots, implementing vehicle fitness certificates, road safety standards, and eye check-ups for drivers, along with working frequently with the NHAI and other associations, he added.

In a similar vein, the Jaipur district administration unvelied the  Jaipur Parwah (Care) drive on Friday. The initiative seeks to ensure compliance with traffic laws, reduce accidents and increase public consciousness on traffic laws on theroad.
