Renault Kwid EV India Launch Soon? Tata Tiago EV Rival Incoming

Renault has recently announced its plans to introduce two new SUVs in India. The first is the new-generation Duster, reviving a nameplate that was discontinued in 2022. The second model will be the Boreal, likely a three-row version of the Duster based on the Bigster sold overseas. Both SUVs are scheduled to enter the Indian market in FY26.

In addition to these SUVs, the French automaker may also launch another vehicle in India—an entry-level electric vehicle (EV) based on the Dacia Spring EV. There have been several sightings of test mules for this budget EV, which Renault is expected to call the Kwid EV, extending the hatchback’s lineup in India. Although these test mules are heavily camouflaged, it is evident that their frame is derived from the Spring EV.

If the does arrive in India, it will compete with offerings like the and the MG Comet EV. While the specifications for Renault’s upcoming EV remain undisclosed, they are likely to be similar to those of the Spring EV. The Spring EV features a 26.8 kWh battery pack, which promises a range of 220 km—ideal for city driving. It is equipped with a single electric motor configured for front-wheel drive, offering two variants: one with a 45 hp motor and another with a 65 hp motor. Charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 45 minutes.
