Triple riding to lane violations: 5k fined in Gurgaon last month

Gurgaon: As many as 1,594 bikers were fined for triple riding and paid a total fine of Rs 15.4 lakh in Feb. In the same month, 3,334 commercial vehicle drivers were fined for not following lane driving, and traffic police collected a fine of Rs 24.7 lakh from these commercial vehicle drivers.
According to traffic police, a campaign was conducted from Feb 1 to Feb 28 to check triple riding and lane violations across the city; cops deployed drones to spot the violators, apart from CCTV surveillance during this drive. Most of the challans were issued on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, said a senior police officer.
DCP (traffic) Virender Vij said, “To raise public awareness, the city’s traffic police continuously run such awareness campaigns using LED vans at schools, intersections, companies, factories, metro stations, and RWA societies, educating citizens about traffic rules.”
With this, the traffic department aims to streamline and ease traffic flow, ensuring safe vehicle operation on the roads.

“Wrong lane driving and sudden lane changes are major causes of road accidents, endangering lives and property. To prevent such accidents, the police regularly conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public about traffic rules. Awareness sessions are also held for truck drivers, company employees/drivers, and bus drivers,” said the DCP.
