TVS Apache RTX 300 Long Term Review: Introduction

Why the RTX?

The Apache RTX 300 is the current Indian Motorcycle of the Year, an award bestowed upon it by the top tier of Indian automotive media houses, including BikeWale. It won the award because it set a new benchmark among premium motorcycles in the country. It is easily one of the best-equipped, well-engineered, versatile, and capable motorcycles in its class. That it is also relatively affordable only makes its case stronger.

Since we like riding good motorcycles, having it on the BikeWale long-term fleet was a no-brainer.

But we also want to find out how the motorcycle ages. Not just when it is ridden in its comfort zone, but when it is pushed hard for the most part. When it is ridden more at high rpms than low; when it is shown no mercy over broken roads; and when it is left out battling persistent rain in the open. We want to find out if the engine turns harsh and noisy over time; whether the suspension and brakes struggle after repeated jaunts over challenging roads; and what fails, and why, if something does fail.

What better way to do that than to live with it on a daily basis, but without the kid gloves?
