A video of a woman setting fire to a parked motorcycle has now gone viral. The incident happened in the Jaitpur police station area of Delhi’s South-East district. The video of the crime was recorded on CCTV.
In the 1-minute and 24-second long video, it can be seen that a woman was walking on a narrow street with a few bikes parked on one of the sides. Then she randomly stops near a bike and unplugs the fuel line.
Once the petrol starts oozing out, she grabs a matchstick and throws it on the motorcycle. This causes the motorcycle to burst into flames immediately due to the highly combustible nature of the petrol.
One can also see that the woman was throwing the lit matchstick at the bike from a distance of 1 to 2 feet, yet the little amount of petrol that leaked caused a major flame that almost engulfed the miscreant.
| A woman was found taking out petrol from a bike and setting it on fire in Jaitpur police station area of Delhi’s South East District last night. She was later trying to put another bike on fire during which locals caught her and handed her over to police: Delhi Police…
It has also been reported that the woman was trying to set another motorcycle on fire but the locals successfully managed to prevent that from happening by handing her over to the police.
That being said, the Delhi Police is yet to confirm the motive behind the crime committed by the woman. Moreover, the now-viral CCTV footage shows the woman randomly approaching the motorcycle rather than identifying it as a target.
As such, we expect this to be more related to the mental health issues of the woman rather than an act of revenge. Luckily, no one was hurt or injured in the incident.
It is easier to remove the fuel line from motorcycles equipped with a carburettor than a motorcycle with fuel injection. As such, using a lockable carburettor and steel-braided fuel line can prevent such incidents. Also, during such incidents, it is best to take help from the police and concerned authorities.
