Harley-Davidson had previously exited the Indian market and a hefty 50% customs duty imposed by India on fully built-up imported bikes is something that had made operations difficult for Harley in previous format. Also, the same has now forged its partnership with MotoCorp, allowing it to take a new path to penetrate the Indian two-wheeler market.
X440 Being Produced In Neemrana Plant
Harley-Davidson used to produce the Street 750 for the Indian, as well as international markets at its Bawal, Neemrana-based facility which has now being used for the production of X440, by Hero. The launch of X440 has allowed the company to reposition itself and brought it under the range of many prospective Indian buyers. At a starting price tag of Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), Harley has now become a rival to the likes of motorcycles such as Meteor 350 and Classic 350.
