Yamaha Unveils Hybrid Prototype Of This 900cc Streetfighter

Yamaha has introduced a hybrid prototype for the MT-09, marking their second two-wheeler developed with this technology. The first was the XMax hybrid scooter concept. Details about the specifications are currently not disclosed, nor is there a set date for the debut of the production version of this prototype. This suggests that Yamaha is still working on the technology, and the road-ready version is likely some time away.

: Powertrain

The hybrid setup on the features an electric motor positioned above the streetfighter’s internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrain. Similar to traditional full-hybrid systems, the system developed by Yamaha allows for an electric-only start and automatically switches to hybrid mode as speed increases. It alternates between electric and hybrid modes based on the motorcycle’s speed. All relevant information is displayed to the rider through a circular LCD unit mounted on the handlebars.
