Yokohama has been operating in India since 2007, and they have aced in producing tyres specifically designed for the country’s diverse driving conditions. The company also plans to add a new manufacturing line at its existing Visakhapatnam plant.
This expansion will enable Yokohama to start producing 22-inch passenger car tyres. As per the reports, the new line is expected to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Yokohama has expanded its production capacity over the years. Beginning from just 7,00,000 tyres in 2014, the company scaled up to 1.53 million tyres in 2019 and 1.96 million in 2021. Yokohama’s Bahadurgarh facility in Haryana can produce 2.8 million tyres annually.
Apart from the Bahadurgarh facility, Yokohama has three other major production facilities in Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), and Dahej (Gujarat). Off-road tyres are mainly produced in these plants.
The company is also strengthening its retail chain and has recently opened its 51st store in Salem, Tamil Nadu. This store serves as a one-stop shop, displaying Yokohama’s complete range of products, including tires for passenger cars and SUVs.
Furthermore, the Yokohama dealership stores offer various tyre-related services like wheel alignment and wheel balancing to ensure that the customers receive comprehensive support and proper maintenance from the authorized dealer.
Yokohama’s decision to expand its production capacity in India signifies the brand’s confidence in the market. By establishing a new production line and strengthening its retail chain, Yokohama is poised to further establish itself as a trusted and preferred choice among Indian consumers.
