2026 Yezdi Scrambler vs Royal Enfield Scram 440: Competition Check

2026 Yezdi Scrambler vs Royal Enfield Scram 440: Competition Check

The updated Yezdi Scrambler is here in India, and it has received some changes to its design and engine. It goes up against the Royal Enfield Scram 440 in India, but have the updates made it more suited to take on the Scram? Here’s how the two compare:

Design

Both motorcycles feature a rugged, retro-inspired design. The Yezdi Scrambler sticks to a simpler design with the round LED headlight, exposed frame, upswept stubby exhaust, and the offset single-pod instrument console. The ribbed seat, round side-panel and the minimalist tail section add to the rugged appeal.

The Scram 440, on the other hand, carries forward the same familiar design as the now-discontinued Scram 411. It looks rugged, but at the same time, it has a more understated design compared to the Yezdi Scrambler.

It has a relatively cleaner design with the somewhat tear-drop shaped tank and the simple tank shrouds.

Engine and Performance

The Yezdi Scrambler is powered by a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 29.4bhp and 30Nm. Whereas the Scram 440 is powered by a 443cc, air/oil-cooled engine making 25.4bhp and 34Nm.

Engine From Right

Although the Yezdi Scrambler wins on paper in terms of power, and the Scram 440 has the advantage in terms of torque, the engine characteristics on both bikes are very different. The Yezdi Scrambler has a higher revving motor, which produces its power higher up the rev range.

Engine From Right

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 has a long-stroke engine that makes most of its power at the lower end, making for a torquey and laid-back riding experience.

Underpinnings

Both bikes feature a telescopic fork at the front, but the Yezdi Scrambler has a twin rear-shock absorber setup while the Scram 440 has a monoshock. The Yezdi’s suspension has 150mm travel at the front and 130mm travel at the rear.

Rear Suspension

The Scram 440’s suspension gets 190mm travel at the front and 180mm at the rear. Ground clearance on both comes to 200mm. The longer travel suspension on the Scram 440 should help it absorb bumps and potholes better.

Features

The Yezdi Scrambler gets a single LCD instrument console, and with the new update, it gets a traction control system with three preset modes. Aside from this, the bike features switchable ABS for off-road riding.

Instrument Cluster

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 features a semi-digital instrument console with an analogue speedometer and a digital inset for fuel, trip and odometer readouts.

Pricing

The updated Yezdi Scrambler is priced starting at Rs. 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the Scram 440 starts at Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The difference between the two comes to around Rs. 24,000.
