Ola launches new scooters S1 X+: Check price, battery range, top speed

Electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric has rolled out a new scooter variant, S1 X+ 5.2 kWh, priced at Rs 1,29,999 (introductory), aiming to make longer-range electric mobility more accessible to everyday users. The offer price is valid till April 15, the company said on Monday. The new model stands out for using Ola’s in-house 4680 Bharat Cell technology, a move the company says will help bring high-performance EV features to a wider audience.

A push to take EV tech mainstream

The launch signals a clear shift: advanced battery technology, once limited to premium models, is now being pushed into the mass segment. The company believes this could help accelerate electric vehicle adoption in India, where range anxiety and pricing remain key concerns.

“With S1 X+ 5.2 kWh, we are taking our 4680 Bharat Cell to the mass market at scale. The same technology platform we built for our most advanced products is now powering a scooter designed for much wider EV adoption,” an Ola Electric spokesperson said.

The S1 X+ 5.2 kWh combines performance and practicality in a single package. It runs on an 11 kW mid-drive motor with an integrated Motor Control Unit (MCU). The scooter offers a claimed range of 320 km (IDC) and can reach a top speed of 125 km/h.

On the safety front, it comes with Brake-by-Wire technology and front disc brakes, features that are expected to improve control and braking efficiency during daily use.

At its core, this launch is about scale. By controlling everything from cell development to vehicle manufacturing, the company is trying to speed up innovation and reduce costs, a strategy often referred to as vertical integration.

“This is exactly what vertical integration enables – the ability to innovate deeply, scale quickly, and bring our best technology to more and more customers, faster. S1 X+ 5.2 kWh is where performance, range and scale come together, and is another important step towards making EVs accessible to every Indian,” the spokesperson added.

The new scooter joins a growing portfolio. The company already sells multiple variants under its Gen 3 S1 range, including premium models like S1 Pro+ and S1 Pro, along with more affordable S1 X versions in different battery configurations.

It has also expanded into motorcycles with its Roadster series, offering multiple battery options to cater to different riders.
