LiveWire Acquires Dust Moto

  • LiveWire procures assets of Dust Moto
  • Dust’s electric dirt bike platform moves towards production
  • More details in the second half of 2026

LiveWire Group has gained possession of Dust Moto assets marking its clear move beyond on-road electric motorcycles. No specifications, launch markets or production timelines out yet, but LiveWire has confirmed that it is advancing Dust Moto’s electric dirt bike platform towards production and will share more product launch details in the second half of 2026.

This acquisition gives LiveWire a direct entry into the electric off-road motorcycle space beyond its image seen through its road-going electric motorcycles and its connection with Harley-Davidson. Dust Moto gives it a more focused off-road product direction. Off-road riders need instant torque, low mechanical complexity and easy control at low speeds. An electric dirt bike naturally supports this as there is no clutch, no gearbox work and no delay in power delivery.

No such juicy details out yet, like what battery capacity, motor output, range, charging time, suspension hardware, wheel sizes or weight. But what is actually clear is that Dust brings off-road knowledge, while LiveWire brings engineering support, manufacturing scale, a global marketing, sales and service network to this cocktail.

The move also continues a wider electric powersports path that began with STACYC. LiveWire’s CEO Karim Donnez said the acquisition helps the company build on its on-road electric leadership while expanding into off-road, and described Dust Moto as a strategic fit. So the acquisition does not see off-road just as a side project, but part of a broader electric two-wheeler and powersports plan. Dust Moto CEO Colin Godby also said that joining LiveWire gives the company the scale, resources, and global reach to take its electric off-road bike to a worldwide audience.

LiveWire has not as such announced India plans for the Dust-based electric dirt bike. However, since electric off-road motorcycles could become interesting for closed-course riding, training schools, private farms, motorsport parks and beginner-friendly dirt riding experiences, we will remain hopeful.
