  • Light and playful

Suzuki has just shown its new DR-Z4SM as fun little supermotard-style motorcycle. It comes with handguards and an aluminium skid plate as standard to match its hooligan character for obvious reasons. And no, India isn’t getting it. It is such a light, playful and different from the usual street naked that it will definitely capture the younger audience.

Suzuki Riding

The compact, light and quick-steering supermotard has been designed to make every day riding more engaging. As it weighs about 154kg, will be a hoot to ride competitively or regularly. Its 398cc single-cylinder engine produces near 38bhp. This modest output is backed by direct throttle response and quick acceleration at lower speeds. That is the kind of analogue feel and uncomplicated appeal that many riders still enjoy.

DR-Z4SM has been built around agility, so the high and centred riding position, wide handlebar and compact bodywork should give the rider a strong sense of command. Suspension duties are handled by adjustable Kayaba suspension with an upside-down front fork offering 260mm of travel and a rear suspension setup with 277mm of travel. The long-travel numbers will help negotiate rough tarmac, sharp bumps and fast direction changes with ease. Adjustability also means riders can tune the setup for road use or for more aggressive riding on a closed circuit.
