2027 Kawasaki Ninja H2 to Make Less Power?

2027 Kawasaki Ninja H2 to Make Less Power?

  • Emissions and homologation documents leaked
  • Registered to make 194bhp, the same as the Z H2
  • Likely to be a complete generation change

The Kawasaki Ninja H2 is set to receive an update for the 2027 model year, but the revised motorcycle could make less power than the current version.

This information comes from leaked emissions and homologation documents. Unlike previous models, the 2027 Ninja H2 shares its emissions certification with the Kawasaki Z H2 SE, indicating that both motorcycles could use the same 998cc supercharged inline-four engine.

According to EPA documents, the 2026 Ninja H2 produces 225hp at 11,500rpm. However, the 2027 model is certified with 194hp at 10,500rpm, which is the same as the Z H2 SE’s output. CARB filings also indicate that the updated Ninja H2 will use the Z H2 SE’s exhaust system, which features an additional catalytic converter to meet stricter emissions regulations.

Although the performance drop is substantial on paper, 194hp is still a substantial output. Interestingly, this is the same power figure produced by the first-generation Ninja H2 when it was introduced in 2015.

The filings do not reveal any details about changes to the motorcycle’s styling, chassis, or electronics. However, Australian homologation documents list new model codes—ZXT02W for the Ninja H2 and ZXT02X for the Ninja H2 Carbon—in place of the current ZXT02J. This suggests that Kawasaki considers the 2027 bike to be a new-generation model, although the full extent of the updates remains unknown.
