Honda Rebel 300 and Rebel 300 E-Clutch Unveiled in India

Honda has unveiled the Rebel 300 and the Rebel 300 E-Clutch in India, alongside six other new products. The company has confirmed that the cruiser will be launched later this year and, more importantly, will be manufactured in India.

The Rebel 300 will be offered in two variants – Standard and E-Clutch. The latter features Honda’s innovative E-Clutch technology, which allows riders to start, stop and shift gears without operating the clutch lever while still retaining the option of manual clutch control whenever required.

In terms of design, the Rebel 300 follows the minimalist low-slung bobber-inspired styling seen on its larger siblings. It gets a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, chopped fenders, a low-slung stance, wide handlebar, forward-set footpegs, and a single-piece seat. The blacked-out engine and exhaust further enhance its custom-inspired appeal.

Powering the Honda Rebel 300 is a 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces around 27bhp and 26.6Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while the E-Clutch variant benefits from Honda’s automatic clutch system.

The cruiser is expected to come equipped with full-LED lighting, a negative LCD instrument cluster, assist and slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers, while braking hardware comprises a disc brake at both ends.

Once launched, the Rebel 300 will take on retro-styled cruisers such as the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Yezdi Roadster. However, the Honda is likely to stand apart with its lighter kerb weight, modern liquid-cooled engine, and the availability of the segment-first E-Clutch technology.

Honda is expected to price the Rebel 300 between Rs. 2.50 lakh and Rs. 3 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the premium end of the entry-level cruiser segment. More details, including variant-wise prices and launch timeline, are expected to be revealed closer to its market launch later this year.
